Our Vision
Universities and colleges everywhere teaching, leading and managing on the basis of evidence shared across borders.
Conference Information
The International Conference on Higher Education takes place in Oxford, United Kingdom, on 14–16 May 2027, at Saïd Business School. It is an international higher education conference, peer-reviewed and dedicated to how universities and colleges teach, lead and manage. It serves as a university teaching conference for those who study and improve learning in the classroom, the laboratory and online, and as a higher education leadership conference for those responsible for departments, faculties and institutions.
The conference exists because higher education is changing faster than most institutions can absorb. Student populations are more diverse, expectations of teaching are higher, budgets are tighter, and artificial intelligence is reshaping how students learn and how staff work. Research on these questions is published in many places but rarely discussed across the boundaries that separate teaching specialists from managers, or one national system from another. The International Conference on Higher Education creates that shared space over three days, in one venue, with a programme built entirely from peer-reviewed research.
Participants present their work in oral, poster or live virtual sessions, receive feedback from an international audience, and publish accepted work in the Abstract Book and, where eligible, the proceedings. Whether you research pedagogy, lead an academic unit or shape national policy, the conference gives you a place to test ideas against evidence from other institutions and other countries.

Universities and colleges everywhere teaching, leading and managing on the basis of evidence shared across borders.
To bring higher education researchers, teachers and leaders together to present peer-reviewed work, debate it and publish it.
A university teaching conference at its core, the event also serves everyone who leads, manages or shapes higher education:
Researchers in higher education studies, educational sciences, learning and teaching, and the sociology, economics and policy of education.
University teachers and academic developers who design courses, assess students and lead teaching improvement.
Academic leaders and managers — heads of department, deans, directors of teaching, quality and student services, and senior institutional leaders who look to a higher education management conference for evidence they can apply.
Doctoral students and early-career researchers presenting their first results to an international audience.
Policymakers, quality-assurance bodies and funders who shape the environment in which institutions operate.
Professionals in edtech, publishing and higher education services who want to understand the research base.
General attendees who wish to follow the programme without presenting — see the Listener option below.
The conference covers the full breadth of research on post-secondary education. As a university teaching conference, it invites work on pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment and feedback, academic integrity, student engagement and the scholarship of teaching and learning in any discipline. As a higher education leadership conference, it welcomes studies of governance, strategy, institutional change, academic careers and the leadership of departments and universities. As a higher education management conference, it addresses quality assurance, accreditation, funding and financial sustainability, workload and staff wellbeing, rankings and institutional performance. Cross-cutting themes include digital transformation and artificial intelligence, access and equity, doctoral education, internationalisation and the role of universities in society.
Key areas
Every submission is evaluated through double-blind peer review: reviewers do not see author names or affiliations, and authors do not learn who reviewed their work. Reviewers are members of the Scientific Committee with expertise in the relevant area of higher education research. Submissions are assessed against published criteria — relevance to the conference scope, clarity of purpose, soundness of method, contribution to knowledge or practice, and quality of presentation — and may be screened for similarity with Crossref Similarity Check powered by iThenticate. The conference expects original work that is not under review elsewhere, approved by all co-authors, and conducted with appropriate ethical approval where human participants are involved. Generative AI may be used in manuscript writing only to improve the language and readability of the authors' own text, with disclosure.
The conference welcomes participants regardless of career stage, institution type, country or discipline, and is committed to a respectful, inclusive environment for everyone who attends.
Accepted research is presented in one of three formats.
Any keynote sessions confirmed for this edition are listed on the Speakers page.Mode of Presentation
